- How many restaurants are on the Oahu Food Map?
- Right now the map has 1917 restaurants spread across Oahu — from Waikiki and Ala Moana to the North Shore. It's a working list, not a closed directory: spots get added as we find them and drop off when they close.
- How is the map updated?
- We refresh the map every week. New spots get added, closed ones get removed, and info like addresses or phone numbers gets fixed when readers or owners flag something off. Hours shown on restaurant pages come from Google and can be behind — always double-check before you drive out.
- Which neighborhoods have the most spots?
- The densest areas on the map are Waikiki (229), North Shore (140), Kapolei (103). Waikiki and the Honolulu core dominate because that's where most tourists eat, but there's solid coverage in Kakaako, Kaimuki, and up the windward side too.
- Can I filter by cuisine or price?
- Yeah — use the search bar or the neighborhood tiles on the map view to narrow things down. You can also filter by Open Now if you need somewhere that's serving right this minute, or hit Near Me to sort by distance from where you're standing.
- Are all restaurants personally visited?
- Not all of them — that would be a lie. The map is a wide net of Oahu spots worth knowing about. The ones our editors have actually eaten at and stand behind get the “Editor's Choice” badge — that's 30 restaurants right now. Everything else is on the map because it's either well-regarded locally, well-reviewed, or a spot we're watching.
