I'm Nate. I live in Honolulu, and NateEatsHawaii is the food guide I write for friends who ask where to eat on Oahu — hole-in-the-wall poke shops, plate-lunch counters, and the rooms locals actually line up for.
Every restaurant with the Verified badge is a place I recommend on the food alone. Nate's pick cannot be purchased, sponsored, or earned through any commercial relationship. Sponsored content elsewhere on the site is clearly labeled. Pricing, hours, and details are confirmed with each business at publication.
I started NateEatsHawaii in 2024. NateEatsHawaii LLC operates the site. The rule is the same as day one: I write about the real flavors of Hawaii — the places visitors walk past and locals keep.

How I review a restaurant
I go in person
Every restaurant is a real visit. I either pay my own bill or attend a press tasting the restaurant invited me to, and I write the experience honestly. A press tasting does not guarantee a positive review and does not influence Nate's pick. I do not accept paid reviews, sponsored features, or affiliate commissions on restaurant content.
I film it
I film the food, the portion, the plate, and the room so you can see what you're walking into.

The badge means I would bring my own friends and family there.

Hours, prices, and menus change. I check them and update the page.
