What the app does that a website can't
What's actually open, right now
The app knows the time and where you're standing, so the first thing you see is spots that are open at this moment and close enough to walk to. No filtering, no cross-referencing hours in another tab.
Works when your signal doesn't
Restaurants you save are stored on your phone. North Shore dead zones, a basement izakaya, an international plan you'd rather not use — your list is still there.
Check in and collect the island
Eaten somewhere? Check in at the table to earn Aloha Points, build a streak, and fill out your Island Passport. Check-ins are verified against your location, so a stamp means you actually went.
Reviews you can trust
Review photos can only be taken with the camera inside the app, at the venue — there is no photo library upload. Every photo is checked by a person before it appears. What you see is what the food actually looked like.
Ask in plain language
"Cheap breakfast near me", "where's good for a date", "何が美味しい？" — ask the way you'd ask a friend who lives here, in English or Japanese, and get an answer drawn only from this guide.
Your spots follow you
Sign in with Apple or Google and your saved list, reviews and points move with you to any device. Browsing needs no account at all.
The rules the app runs on
- Free, with no ads and no third-party tracking
- No account needed to browse — sign in only to save, review, or check in
- Photos are camera-only and reviewed by a person before they appear
- Location is used on your device for distance and sorting, and is only sent to us to verify a check-in
- Delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, any time
Before you ask
Does it cost anything?
No. The app is free, there are no ads, no subscription, and nothing is locked behind a purchase.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet — iPhone first. This website works on every phone in the meantime, and the food map is built for mobile.
Do I have to make an account?
Only if you want to save spots, post a review, check in, or redeem a reward. Browsing every restaurant, review and photo needs no account and asks for nothing.
Does it work in Japanese?
Yes — the whole app, including reviews and the assistant, switches between English and Japanese from the toggle at the top of the screen.
