How NateEatsHawaii works

How we make money

Four ways, and we label all of them:

• Sponsored placements and ads. Businesses pay to appear in promoted spots. These carry a SPONSORED label.
• Listings. Restaurants can pay for a verified or featured listing with photos, menu details, and better placement in their category.
• Agency work. We run marketing, photography, and websites for some Honolulu restaurants.
• Tour and activity links. Some pages link to tours and experiences through Viator. If you book through one, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those blocks say so above the links.

When a business pays us and also appears in an article

We say so on the page. If you see a restaurant covered here that pays us for anything, there's a line on that page telling you.

How we decide what to cover

We write about places we think are worth knowing about. Most of the time we've eaten there. When we haven't — for a listing built from public information, or a new opening — we don't pretend otherwise.

Paying us doesn't get you covered, and it doesn't move you up a list. What it gets you is placement in spots that are marked as paid.

Our badges

Badges like Editor's Choice reflect what we think. Commercial badges — deals, promotions, product claims — are separate and appear on paid placements.

Photos

Photos on the site come from us, from the restaurant, or from public sources. We're working through the library to make sure every image is either ours or supplied with permission.

Prices and hours

We check prices in person where we can. Restaurants change things without telling us, so treat what you see here as a guide rather than a guarantee. If something's wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.

Corrections

Email hello@nateeatshawaii.com. Owners can also claim their listing to update hours, photos, and menu details.
