Waikiki

Waikiki splits into a family Sunday and two 21+ parties on Halloween night. They are different buildings. Tiki's is on Kalākaua Avenue. Hyatt check-in is the Koa Avenue entrance.

Sunday, October 25 — Royal Hawaiian Center. The center's trick-or-treat page lists Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 12pm to 6pm, while supplies last, at participating stores and restaurants. The store list on that page was still empty when I read it. The same afternoon, the keiki costume contest runs in the Royal Grove from 2pm to 5:15pm. Keiki are infants through 10 years old.

The contest schedule on that page is: balloon animals 12pm–3pm, on-site check-in 2pm–2:45pm, contest 3pm–4:45pm, judges 4:45pm–5pm, winners and a group photo 5pm–5:15pm, photo booth 3pm–5pm. Categories are ages 0–2, 3–5, 6–10, and ʻohana (a parent and child, infant to 10). One category per child. Every contestant has to check in on site.

Prizes, from the same page: grand overall is a $250 Royal Hawaiian Center gift card, two flight vouchers on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines between Hawaiʻi and North America, and gifts from the center's shops and restaurants. First place in a category is a $150 gift card plus gifts. Second is $100 plus gifts. Third is $50 plus gifts.

The page says online registration opens Monday, October 5, at 12:00pm HST. The same page still prints a pre-registration deadline of 12:00pm HST on October 25, 2025. On-site check-in on October 25, 2026 closes at 2:45pm. Address: 2201 Kalākaua Avenue. Phone: (808) 922-2299. The footer lists center hours Monday–Sunday, 10am–9pm.

Saturday, October 31 — Tiki's Grill & Bar. Tiki's own post, dated September 5, 2026, puts the party on Saturday, October 31, from 8:00pm until close. It is 21 and up, and the door wants a valid ID. A live band starts the night and a DJ follows. Costumes are encouraged. Halloween cocktails are on the bar; the post does not name them or price them.

Tickets, from that post: early bird $15 in a limited Eventbrite quantity, general presale $25, door $40, and $15 for dinner guests with an OpenTable reservation or bought at the table. The ticket link on the post is tikishalloween26.eventbrite.com. Address: 2570 Kalākaua Avenue. Phone: (808) 923-8454.

Saturday, October 31 — Halloween at the Hyatt. hyatthalloween.com lists Saturday, October 31, 2026, 8pm–2am, at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. Check-in is the 2411 Koa Avenue entrance, on the mountain side of the hotel. The theme on the page and the flyer is “Gotta Spook ’Em All.” The page calls it a 21+ event and asks for a physical government-issued ID. Costume-contest registration is 8pm–11pm, and the contest starts shortly after. The prize line on the page is up to $2,000.

The FAQ says general admission at the door is $35, cash or card. The same FAQ says the bar and bottle service are card only, with prices including a 21% service charge and 4.712% tax. Premium general admission, which the FAQ calls PGA, is a fast-pass line, not a separate VIP seating area. Weapons and fake weapons are not allowed. Re-entry is not allowed. The page says the event is rain or shine and ticket sales are final. VIP tables are booked on that site; the FAQ does not print a table price. Online tickets go through the Purchase Tickets button on hyatthalloween.com.

Royal Hawaiian Center's contest page lists two registration dates. Online registration is posted to open Monday, October 5, 2026, at noon. The pre-registration deadline printed under it is still October 25, 2025. On-site check-in on October 25, 2026 ends at 2:45pm, and you have to check in on site to compete.

Honolulu

Honolulu is where I would take kids on Halloween afternoon. The haunted house is a separate night in the Ward area, and it is not for young children. Kakaʻako is the late set if you want music instead of a Waikiki ticket.

Saturday, October 31, 4pm–7pm — Ala Moana Center. The center's Ala-Ween page lists trick-or-treating at over 100 stores, restaurants, and community organizations, a dance party, and a complimentary balloon. A scavenger hunt runs Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, October 31: pick up instructions at Guest Services and look for six creatures in the Mauka Wing. Address: 1450 Ala Moana Boulevard. Phone: (808) 955-9517.

Food on the center's offers page, which I would actually use: Ahi & Vegetable hands out a BOGO coupon with your candy on October 30 and 31, buy one Mini Poke Bowl and get one free. The Alley is $5 for all brown sugar boba drinks on October 31, 4pm–7pm. Honolulu Cookie Company is selling a Halloween Treat Box of five cookies; that page does not print a price. Jungle Fun Island holds an in-store costume contest on October 31 during store hours, open to close, with a $50 game card for the winner.

Trial of Fears 2026 — Real Escape Game × Haunted House. Waikiki Trolley hosts it in the Ward area from Saturday, October 3 through Sunday, November 1, 2026. It is not open every day. The trolley calendar lists October 3, 9–11, 16–18, 22–25, and October 29–November 1. Hours are 7:00pm–11:00pm. Address: 1050 Queen Street Suite 100, Honolulu, HI 96814.

Tickets on that page: general admission $38 + fee, Express $46 + fee, and groups of 20 or more $31 per person + fee (10% off). At purchase use promo code NATE. Ages 10+. Not recommended for young children. A parent or guardian has to sign the waivers for anyone under 18. The Trial of Fears FAQ lists public street parking nearby and says not to park in neighboring private retail lots, because the car may be towed.

October 29–31 — Off The Wall Craft Beer and Wine. This one is in Kakaʻako, at 1170 Auahi Street, so it is a separate trip from the Waikiki parties. My October calendar has Noah Myers on Thursday, October 29 at 7pm, Lila Chris on Friday, October 30 at 8pm, and Kawaiola on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31 at 8pm. Scott's Halloween cocktail is pouring all weekend. The calendar does not list a price for the cocktail or a cover for the sets. The room is on the food map.

The Rest of Oahu: Kapolei

The dated Halloween events I could confirm outside Waikiki and urban Honolulu are both at Ka Makana Aliʻi, 91-5431 Kapolei Parkway, Kapolei. Phone: (808) 628-4800.

Wednesday, October 28 — keiki costume contest. The center's event page puts it in Center Court. Contestant registration is 4:00pm–6:00pm. At 6:30pm the magic show begins, and the Makana Kids contest starts. Age groups are 0–4, 5–8, 9–12, and ʻohana (up to four people, and the group has to include at least two keiki age 12 or younger). Judging categories are Most Creative, Funniest, Spookiest, Best Character/Celebrity Look-Alike, and, for ʻohana, Best Coordinated Theme. Each age division in each category gets a first, second, and third, and the page says more than $3,000 in prizes. This contest is the Wednesday before Halloween, not Halloween night.

Saturdays, October 3–31 — films at ʻŌlino. The center's film page lists three movies each Saturday and says to reserve seats there. It does not print showtimes. The Saturdays mix family films and horror, so check the rating before you take a keiki: October 3 is Hotel Transylvania, Coraline, and M3GAN; October 10 is Corpse Bride, ParaNorman, and Beetlejuice; October 17 is Monster House, The Boxtrolls, and Cloverfield; October 24 is Casper, Ghostbusters, and A Quiet Place; October 31 is Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and The Ring.

How I Would Split the Month

For a family, I would use Royal Hawaiian Center on Sunday, October 25. Trick-or-treat runs until 6pm, and the contest check-in closes at 2:45pm, so the contest only works if you are in the Royal Grove by then. If the trip is Halloween day itself, Ala Moana from 4pm to 7pm is the afternoon that is actually on October 31, with the poke BOGO and the $5 boba sitting inside the same window.

For adults on Halloween night, I would pick one ticket. Tiki's is the beachfront party, and the $15 rate depends on eating dinner there. The Hyatt runs later, to 2am, and the door price in the FAQ is $35. Off The Wall is the Kakaʻako option, Kawaiola at 8pm, without a ticket price on the calendar. Trial of Fears is the haunted house on other nights: October 3, 9–11, 16–18, 22–25, and October 29–November 1, 7:00pm–11:00pm, at 1050 Queen Street Suite 100. General admission is $38 + fee and Express is $46 + fee. At purchase use promo code NATE.

Sunday the 25th belongs to Royal Hawaiian Center if you have keiki. Halloween afternoon belongs to Ala Moana. Halloween night is one choice: Tiki's on the beach, the Hyatt until 2am, or Kawaiola at Off The Wall.

Family day is October 25 at Royal Hawaiian Center, or October 31 from 4 to 7 at Ala Moana. Pick one adult party for that night and buy it before you go.
